Why won't my texts go through to my friend's phone?

I can receive texts from him just fine. He receives texts from other people. But mine don't show up on his phone even though it says they are sent on MY phone. Any ideas?

Does your friend use an iPhone? Did they use an iPhone in the past? Is their contact classified as an "iPhone" or a "Mobile" device in your address book?

When this happens, this is usually because your phone tries to send a message to your friend using iMessage, and your friend never disabled it.

No he doesn't. And I don't even have iMessage enabled anyway. Someone told me it uses your data plan to send messages so I just disabled it.

Okay. So just to confirm, make sure their telephone number is not marked as an "iPhone" and is instead just marked as a Mobile device in the contacts list.

It is true iMessage uses your data plan. It will use Wi-Fi when on Wi-Fi.

Is your friend also on Verizon?

I don't believe he is. I think he's on T-Mobile or AT&T

Oh my! I would be just as concerned & wondering why this is happening too. I’m glad that you have come here, because help is our middle name. Let’s make sure that we get to the bottom of this. I see in a below post that you responded to that you have an iPhone. What model iPhone do you have? Had your friend contacted his wireless carrier to see if they are having any issues on their end? Do you have the most up to date software on your phone?

in your settings under Messages, do you have the send as SMS option on or off?
