When I set up and activate my new iPhone 7, will my apps be transferred from my iPhone 5c, or will I have to re-install them individually?

Great question! Let's make this as painless as possible. You can set up your new iphone with a backup from your previous device. It can be done through icloud or through itunes. I'll provide the links below.

Backing up: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

Restoring: Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup - Apple Support

iCloud: Restore or set up your iOS device from iCloud
