i have a iphone and I have a data plan for my ipad, can I send a text message from my ipad on the data plan?

I believe it's able to send iMessages as long as you have your Apple ID setup and enabled on the device. Alternatively, if you use Message+ on your phone and tablet, you cans et up integrated messaging between the two, but iMessage should be the simpler option.
