changing plans

I have a friend who's on the 250MB plan for $45 a month.  He wants to change the plan to either 2gb for $35 or 5GB for $40.  Does he need to buy a new phone or is there a contract to the new plans?  Obviously cheaper than his current plan.

Well hello, Remybelle, thanks for reaching out to us here. There is no cost or penalty for changing plans from the one that your friend is on now. And, you don't need to buy a new phone to change your plan as well.  JoeyM_VZW
