it automatically whenever i have the need. how do do it?

i already called that number . it was all about buying minutes for phone( which i already do and have no problem). said nothing about data and selecting

“ operator assistance “ was not one of the options.

Also , your verizon store here did not know how todo this and gave me your phone #.

Please explained give me step by step procedures.
