You have to cancel lines in person or on the phone... try dialing 800-922-0204, then choose option 4, and SAY "Agent" at the prompt.  I've always gotten connected to a live person in just a couple of minutes.

You can also visit a Verizon corporate store and cancel lines in person; if there isn't a store near you, the phone is your only option.
