iPhone 4 is CDMA and I believe straight talk is CDMA as well. you may need to flash the phone which is not a service Verizon provides.

the software on the phone is optimized for use on the Verizon network. some functions on the device may not work: in some cases you'll be able to make calls and send text, but the data won't function. often times it will work without modification. your question would be better answered by contacting Straight Talk directly at 1-877-430-2355.
