Willa101,
You came to the right place for assistance! We can certainly help with advice on clearing up space on your iPhone. You can definetly start by removing any unneeded items on your phone. If everything is important on your device we would suggest backing up to iTunes or iCloud. Once you have a good backup you can remove anything that you don't need on your device at all times. You will then still have the information safe in your iTunes or iCloud backup.

Something I do for my iPhone/iPad clients who have updated iOS over the air or applied updates within iTunes, is DFU & restore. iOS Updates do not clean up memory (over the air stitches firmware). I have seen several GB of memory defined as "Other" which was not app data. This memory that was not cleaned up, and iOS devices tend to lag after several updates.
To restore to factory fresh and restore apps and data, backup iPhone to computer using iTunes, then perform DFU/restore while connected to iTunes. See post below how to do this:
Note: Power iPhone Off first while connected to computer (after backup) before performing DFU.

Your iOS device will have all your voicemail, photos, notes, text messages & apps w\ data restored. I had 1 client who gained about 5GB on an iPad and it stopped locking up.
