need help with backupassistant for my existing contacts

Not having much luck searching for instructions to backup my existing contacts before I can activate my new iPhone 4.  Any help would be appreciated.

What kind of phone are you coming from? Does it have Backup Assistant or something else for contact backup? More information would be helpful. Also a search of the community or the Verizon Wireless website might have yielded some answers too.

While you are not the original poster, in your situation I would check to see if all your contacts are synced with your Gmail account. Then you can import them into itunes or icloud for syncing with the iphone.
