undo update?

i updated my phone to ios 5 with itunes and it deleted my apps and combined mine and my sons contacts can i undo this update and get my phone back to original state before update

Does your son and you have the same apple id? Did you back up your phone with icloud before you did the update? If you did then you can restore your phone sand use that back up. It's easy to get the apps fixed by syncing your phone to iTunes on the computer. Or you can see if they have them in the store then downloads to see if you can re download them from your phone.

yes we have the same apple id and password and i followed the steps on itunes...i think i upgraded and then backed to icloud like it said to do it didn't tell me to do. but on verizone online on my acct it has just my contacts....so if i go to itunes reset my phone and do the as new phone can i come to my online acct and sync my contacts there...and thank you for your reply

While you can't undo the update itself, Apple has a great support site for everything you may need to bring your iPhone back to the way it may have been before if it was backed up first. Their site helps with backing up, erasing all content, restoring, transfer & sync content, and more: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414

Also, if you share your Apple ID with another user, then the backup and restoring of contacts and applications would merge the information between the two devices.
