what is wrong with visual voicemail unable to connect try again later and cant change my voicemail password. When I was with sprint everything worked but not with verizon? Both verizon customer service and apple customer service have no clue what is going wrong? I also talked with a senior advisor no idea.

Hi sillyshydq:
We would like to get to the bottom of your voicemail issues! Is this still occurring? We may need to open up a trouble ticket for you too. Please dial *228 and send and choose option 1. Once it's done programming, press and hold the home key and power key for ~10 seconds until it reboots. Once you're done with that, try it again. If you still get the error, please ensure you're in a Verizon Wireless coverage area and retest.
Keep us posted on your results!

I had the voicemail unavailable issue too. I was using wireless and had data turned off. I found that if I turned wireless off and turned data on, under iPhone settings, the voicemail would then setup properly without freezing or giving the error. If you turn data off and go back to wireless, you will see the "unavailable" message again. I also reset my voice mail password online to make sure I didn't have any recurring characters as I've read other posts where that is also suspected as causing a glitch.
I realize post is older, but wanted to share my experience in case it helps someone else. The Verizon Wireless Customer Support instructions for the soft reset didn't do anything for me.
