I ordered a white 32gb iPhone 4s at my local Verizon store on 12/5. I purchased it as a gift for my daughter and was assured that it would be in for Christmas, and it was supposed to arrive at the store this week. The Verizon store can give me no information regarding its whereabouts or when it will arrive, nor have I received a tracking number or any other information that can be used to find out when the phone will come.
I was hoping that it would miraculously arrive today so that my daughter would get her Christmas present, but apparently not. Verizon thinks it will come 'sometime next week'. I'm hoping that's true. Has anyone else received information about when their phones will ship?

Are they sure that your order is still in the system? I've read about that happening several times here. It's been almost 3 weeks.
As much as I like Apple and Verizon, they both seem to have unusual problems actually getting the phones into people's hands (AT&T has the same problem, and since Sprint can't get anything right, I can't see this being any different with them).
I have so lucky on 3 iPhones. The first one, I HAD to have a phone right then and there. I walked into my local Verizon store and got the last 4S they had. A month later, my daughter wanted one, so again, I go by the store and whaddya know, got the last one again. Two weeks ago, my girlfriend decided to make the plunge. We go in, but there's no 4S to be had. Just as we go about ordering one, the salesman (also a buddy of mine) mentioned having one more iPhone 4 on hand. Since my girlfriend does very little more than make phone calls, the 4 (thankfully!) suited her just fine. And saved some money, to boot.
Here's hoping for the best on your order...

Know how you feel.....My daughter just got one gift, or should I say "was" getting one gift.....Went to the Verizon store in Port Richey Florida and was promised that the phone would arrive for Christmas......It was the standard iphone 4s-black.
Well, it is still in the Tampa facility, and it is now Christmas morning, and she will be getting "nothing"......She will be heading back to the University of Penna-graduate school tomorrow and I can guarantee that the first thing her friends will ask is "Where is your phone/"....And believe me when I tell you that you don't want to make an enemy out of my daughter.....She will tell EVERYONE not to deal with Verizon or Fed Ex...........
So Fed Ex lets us down, Verizon let us down, (after all they were the ones that sent the phone "overnight delivery-RIGHT"....
Great public relations on both sides.....And they spend how many millions in advertising?....And the best part is that we will have to pay to send it to her-but not by Fed Ex for sure.
But it could have been worse....We could have ordered a computer monitor and had it thrown over the fence by the delivery man from Fed Ex!........And these mega corporations wonder why the public hates them.....Amasing!

In your case...as much as you want to blame VZW this seems to rest solely on FedEx. IF weather was a factor then that guarantee is voided regardless of who the shipper is (no idea if weather has anything to do with it...just pointing that out since if you read the term and conditions on any of the major shippers websites you will see that delays caused by acts of nature can affect delivery and will not count under the guaranteed delivery time).
As far as having to pay to get it shipped to her...it's possible (not guaranteed) that you can have FedEx ship it to her overnight for free due to the circumstances...assuming that the delay wasn't based on something impossible to control (again I mention weather since that could have caused the plane to be grounded). You would need to contact them tomorrow to see what can be done.
I don't work for either company and I'm not saying that you shouldn't be disappointed...I know I would be too. But like you said...it could have been worse. And...you never know...something may happen that makes this incident a little less disappointing. Not sure how far the Tampa Facility is from you or what time your daughter will be leaving but the possibility exists that she'll still receive it before she leaves...wishful thinking perhaps. Good luck with whatever happens!
