why isn't my phone checking for incoming e-mails?

My e-mail account is no longer checking for incoming e-mails on my iPhone 4S; I am still able to send e-mails. There have been no changes in my Settings.

We definitely want to make sure your email is syncing properly. Which email account is it, a personal or corporate account?
