If you are clicking through the menu to transfer service ("Moving") from your previous home, to your new home, Verizon will try to upsell you and give you a "free" higher speed (i.e. 100 Mbps to 200Mbps) at the "same price" as your old contract. THIS is not the "same" contract and they will charge you an EARLY TERMINATION FEE. This fee will NOT be disclosed and they will also refuse to fix the issue.
Beware: even if it looks like same contract (same price, etc), there is a chance it is different and therefore a "new" contract and therefore, they WILL charge you this early termination fee upon moving.
tl/dr: Verizon will hide that you entering into a "new" contract when you move homes and charge you an early termination fee.
Mite confused on this one. You state contract in your old residence, why would you not think the contract does not apply to the new location?
now if you were NON CONTRACT in your old location you must make sure when transferring your service that it is clearly understood it to be NON CONTRACT on transfer.
you can contact your NYS Department of Public Service at http://www.dps.ny.gov
and either file a online complaint or call the toll free number to have them assist you.
The public service commission will give verizon a call and they will put you in touch with Verizon executive escalations department. So make sure you can answer that phone when they call you.
