Fios just reported me to credit bureau!!

I just found out Verizon reported me to the credit bureau for an account I terminated in February with the final bill from April!!! My account was on auto pay for most of term (apparently not the last month), I must have changed credit cards at some point as Autopay was disabled and even though I thought my account was current, somehow they said I have a $351 balance after I paid what I thought was my last bill.

I called customer service who was friendly enough but once they transferred me to collections that's where my experience trailed off.  I had no idea my account was not current, nor has anyone called me.  I offered to pay the balance in full but they refuse to delete it!!  I asked for a supervisor who called me from Egypt and told me that it was my fault and as a result they would not delete it (which I admitted, I said this is an oversight and I even apologized).  I am in complete shock as my company has 30 wireless numbers, most of my family uses Fios and I've been a Fios customer myself on and off for almost 10 years.

I hope someone can help me with this.

If I had any idea I was still carrying a balance, if anyone had called me or even emailed me; I would totally understand. I asked the supervisor for a list of how they attempted to contact me and she refused!! Nor did she ask or even care if I paid the amount due.  I am at my wits end as I am working on a mortgage at the same time and this ridiculous account is affecting my ability to refinance.

As this is a peer to peer support forum, you will need to contact Verizon directly for assistance. We have sent you a private message with contact information for a dedicated specialist who is able to help with a resolution of your issue.

is it standard practice at Verizon to report to Credit bureaus for unpaid TV accounts?  I have had awful service and it has got to the point where Verizon is in breached of our agreement.  I should not have to pay.

Totally dependent if your not paying goes through collections. If they call and send you dunning notices then you still refuse to pay then I would say that is a good chance they will report it. Thus stays on your credit bureau reports for 7 years after it is paid, or last charged off. High price to pay for a refusal to pay.

since you are in NY you can go here http://www.dps.ny.gov and call the toll free number or file an online complaint. They have full authority over Verizon and they will have your service issues and billing issues resolved with you and Verizon executive escalations department. Give them a valid phone number to contact you. They are very quick so have the phone near by or on you.

Good Luck

Verizon Will Ruin Your CREDIT!!!

Had Verizon Fios for 3 years in total, almost all of it I was on Autopay.  Returned my equipment, was told I had a zero balance and closed out account.  Within 45 days I was turned over to collections (missed a piece of a mail, no phone call) and I immediately paid the bill. I am now left with a stain on my credit and Verizon is completely unwilling to help.  I know I am not  the only one and the worst part is they won't even return my phone call.  Comcast is not even this bad.

Beware.  Even junk mail could be a stealth bill and the next thing you know you cannot buy a house.

I have spent hours on the phone. I've spoken to everyone and when I finally got to a supervisor she said should would not help me.  Every reply by a verizon rep is useless.  They will not help. Please delete this off my credit report!!
