I pay all my bills online. I either have them auto-drafted the day I want or the sites I pay at give me options of the pay date up to the actual date due. For example, QVC, American Express, Discover all give me the option of choosing when to aplly the payment. I can be online on the 7th of the month and schedule my payment to come out on the 15th. Why doesn't Verizon have this option? I pay with a credit card. Please help!!!
Hi, Kurt94,
I shared your post with our online billpayment team.
Verizon.com does not allow scheduled payments on credit cards due to the real time nature of the credit card authorization. There is no process in place to handle a decline on a credit card in batch processing. However, you may schedule a payment using your banking checking account.
Thank you for your post!
I also seem to be having this problem and the card i currently have saved on file and make my payments with is a check card from my bank not a credit card and I am still not seeing the option to schedule a payment for a few days in advance. please advise.....thanks
t is still a credit card... regardless of if it is actually a debit card transaction. The same issue applies as it's processed thru the credit card network. To schedule a payment, you need to use an ACH transaction which is the option where you enter the routing/account information from a check into their system and allow them to process a direct electronic debit.
In my view Verizon's stated reasons are dishonest/inaccurate. In my experience, Verizon's is the only Bill Payment provision that does not permit scheduling of bill payment by Credit Card for a future time. I schedule other payments at other similar outfits via creditcard for the payment due date at the instance I receive my bill so I do not forget. It is obvious that Verizon tends to gain more from hefty late fee charges when those who do not have autopay arrangements due to bills being paid from multiple sources forget to pay on time. Verizon is entitled to its business practice but the reasons stated appear to be dishonest or inaccurate (from the perspective of what is possible).
What a bogus response from Verizon! Nothing can be farther from the truth (contextually). Other vendors (e.g. AT&T Wirelsss, Insurance Companies, Utility companies and on and on and on...) manage scheduling bill payment in future using creditcard VERY WELL. I suspect reasons are different than what is indicated in the response. I think it is a question of Verizon intentions or just an utter contempt on Verizon's part for consumers. The request is simple enough and can be very easily executed. There issue would be the same as for the other vendors and further the same will be true for the fund transfer from a bank account. What if the fund is found to be insufficient when execcuted as a batch on the day. That would be more of an issue than payment via credit in my view.
Verizon can get technical (and I have experienced before as them essentially being a Bulley) but the bottom line is that other vendors (without exception in my experience) can handle this. Product offering from Verizon is great if it fits your requiremets. If you are looking for customer service, forget it! I have not found Verizon to be customer friendly.
