Back in Februrary I terminated my FIOS services because I was moving. I returned all the equipment and payed all of the charges on the account as far as I knew. I have always paid my bills on time and would never leave an account unfinished. Just yesterday I got a debt collectors letter in the mail. I never once receieved a piece of mail about the balance on my account, nor did I receive any mail from the 1st debt collector (YES there have apparently been TWO). I have received no emails regarding the status of my account since once you terminate your acount, your verizon email gets terminated as well. How was I supposed to know about this account balance? Verizon never contacted me, even though they had all my information and I even use their phone service- I have always been a loyal customer and feel very blindsided by this. I called the agency today and paid, and I am now worried that I have a delinquency that wil reflect negatively on my credit report. It seems very unfair considering I didn't get ONE piece of notice that my account had a balance until just last night when I received a letter in the mail from a collection agency. I can't seem to find a phone number to contact Verizon's debt collection department and am looking for a way to contact someone regarding this negative activity towards my credit.
Hi bknyc2016,
Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you. Please go to your profile page for the forum and look at the top of the middle column where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board.
Under "My Support Cases" you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information. The title of your post is the link. This should be checked on a frequent basis, as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions. To ensure you know when they have responded to you, at the top of your support case there is a drop down menu for support case options. Open that and choose "subscribe". Please keep all correspondence regarding your issue in the private support portal.
