I switched from Cable to Verizon 3 months ago, was told I would get the same services and better internet with Fios for much less than with cable. Have had nothing but slow buffering and disconnection from the wifi since it was installed and to boot if I want faster service I need to pay extra. Why should I pay extra for something I had before I switched and didn't have to pay taxes or fees. I upgraded my tv package for an additional $15 online and was given the amount that it would cost to do so. However, this morning I was shocked to receive a confirmation of change and it is actually costing me $42 to upgrade due to fees. SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING SWITCHING BACK TO CABLE. VERIZON STINKS
You should take issue with your elected local, state and federal politicans.
Verizon doesn't set the fees/taxes for the service delivered to your location.

Taxes are set by government.
Fees maybe set by government or Verizon. For example, the "RSN" fee is a Verizon surcharge not mandated by any law. Some fees are allowed, but not mandated by law.
The OP should contact Verizon to review the changes to his/her bill. They should be able to explain what the difference between the expected and actual amount is and correct any problems.
Good Luck.
I have Verizon one bill: FIOS TV, Internet, Phone and Wireless Cell service. Can someone explain to me why Verizon is charging the following:
1. Video Franchise Fee of $5.02 per month - what is this, and who created this fee to get Verizon to add it to our bills?
2. Regional Sports Network Fee of $3.48 per month - who is responsible for getting Verizon to charge these fees to their customers like me?
These charges fall under the heading "Verizon and Verizon Wireless Surcharges and Other Charges & Credits". That is in addition to the "Taxes, Governmental Surcharges and Fees". Really?
Hi aks,
Please see the following for an explanation of these fees:
I think all of us customers should call our tax crazy politicians and let them know we are tired of paying taxes on everything we do, eat, buy, sell, look at, call, chew, ETC ETC..
I now have to pay $25.00 a month extra in taxes grants fees you name it? We should all call our reps and complain!!
