WHY is Verizon refusing to remove fraudulent inquiries from my credit report?!

My identity got stolen in late 2019 and someone opened a Verizon account fraudulently with my information. I went to the local Verizon store and spoke with their corporate office via the phone, I filed a police report, and was told everything was taken care of and everything would be removed from my credit report. I just checked my credit report a few days ago, and there is still a hard inquiry to Verizon on there. I went through the dispute process with Equifax and the response was that VERIZON is refusing to remove the inquiry, and that I need to contact Verizon AGAIN. Now, looking through your forums, I see tons of people having the same issue, with Verizon refusing to remove fraud activity from credit reports, even when people are disputing them. Verizon, you suck. You're hurting peoples' credit.

Hi vrf19977,

As this is a peer to peer support forum, you will need to contact Verizon directly for assistance. We have sent you a private message with contact information for a dedicated specialist who is able to help with a resolution of your issue if the account in question is a Verizon Residential account.  If the account is a wireless account, you will need to contact Verizon Wireless for assistance.
