This morning the BIS went down. Most people are mainly unable to send/receive messages including BBM and Email. The BIS website: https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=vzw is also down for some people.
No idea how many people it's affecting at this point, but it looks like it's cross carrier. I haven't been able to receive emails on my Tour, Curve or AT&T Bold. However, web browsing and all my third party applications are still functioning fine.
This has been happening a lot recently with RIM's servers. Wonder what's with the frequent downtime.
Anyway, let's take this downtime to maybe enjoy some other hobbies we have, like actually living in reality as opposed to in a tiny screen (Eeek!).

The BIS seems to be back up. After a day of no emails, I just got over 200 in one shot.

So, what will happen to the customer like myself that are getting emails 4 1/2 hours late that are of an urgent nature? I wonder if I didn't come looking on these forums if Verizon would have ever told me.
I pay for a service and am not getting it and this isn't the first time this year.

Ah, but you did come to this forum and thus have been properly educated. Welcome to the world of self-help!
Why would Verizon proactively seek out your account and ask you if you were having a problem? What makes you different than the millions of other Blackberry customer's? You need to call them, they shouldn't have to call you. 100% of Blackberry users are not affected by this outage, VZW has no way of knowing who is/isn't affected unless you tell them.
Furthermore, this isn't a VZW issue. It's affecting all carrier's here in the U.S. and even some in Canada. Your Blackberry email services are provided directly by RIM, not VZW. So go complain at the Blackberry Support Forums. Go straight to the man, man.

Doesn't that make you feel special and important? I love it when that happens because each email account I have has a corresponding LED color. So when I get emails for each account it's like my phone is having a party! Whoo! Disco!

Ok I'll bite, how do you set the phone to have differnt color LED when it is a different email source or line like VZW or my satx.rr.com or yahoo and lets not forget BBM?

There's a couple of apps that will do this for you, but you've got to pay to play.
Personally I have BerryBuzz and I got it on special for $2.99, normally it's $5.99. But it allows you to change the LED color for all of your email accounts, SMS, MMS, BBM, Tasks, Calenders, Calls, Facebook, Missed Calls and it also gives you the ability to have the phone vibrate and ring at the time same.
There's one other app that's cheaper at $2.99 called BigTinCan Buzz Me Pro but I didn't think it was as robust as BerryBuzz.
Both of them can be found in Blackberry App World, but you should check Crackberry.com often because they usually have sales with 20% or 50% off for the same apps. That's how I got mine.
