How do you delete multiple messages?

How do you delete multiple messages at a time? I have been going through my inbox one at a time and it takes forever! Especially with all the facebook and e-mail notifications.

You hold down the either shift key(bottom row, last key to either right or left)  and at the same time use the trackball to highlight the messages that you want to delete.  Then hit the menu button and click on delete.

....or...while you are in the Messages folder, scroll to the date and press the Menu key and select Delete Prior Messages.  That will delete all messages prior to that date.

Good morning Doc, do you know when you delete prior messages will it delete off server as well as handset? Because when you highlight them, it gives you the choice, unless you have set the default to delete both.

I don't believe it does give you that option.  Someone may correct me if I am wrong.

Doc, the Storm gives you these options: delete from handset only or delete from both server and handset. I got that every time I went to delete by individual email or highlighting them as a group. Then I found this setting to change how it deletes which is both or one at a time. Then there is the  delete prior,that does not bring up a delete option, but it could be because once I set both as the default, I never get the choice again.
