I recently went into the store to figure out my upgrade date and a rep told me that since i was the primary line on our account that i could upgrade a half a year before my brother who is also on the account. We both got our curves this past May as a buy one get one deal.
If verizon still has the blackberry deal when i want to upgrade in the next couple months, does that mean he can get a free blackberry even though he would not be eligible for upgrade for another half a year.?
Just wondering. Because if i get the newest Blackberry... I know hes not going to be very happy if he has to wait another half a year with his curve. Especially since we are twins.
Thanks..

Both lines need to be available for an upgrade in order to take advantage of BOGO.

So then i could only get my blackberry and my brother would have to wait till his upgrade date? So the only real people that could take advantage of the bogo deal is new verizon customers or what?

Not necessarily. If both of your lines were available for upgrade then you could get 2 phones. I am actually about to do this this weekend. My primary line has been eligible for a 1 year upgrade for 6 months and the secondary line has been eligible for about 2 months, so I am able to take advantage of the BOGO. You could open up another line and get the second phone for that line, then transfer the phone over to your brothers line and activate a dumb phone on the new line or cancel the new line all together but you would have to pay $175 ETF, and soon it will be about $350 depending on when you would get the phones.

I just reread your first post and I am not certain that you could even upgrade. If both of you signed a two year agreement when getting your phones, your line would only be able to upgrade 1 year after getting the new phones. So if you upgraded this past may 2009, you would only be eligible for an upgrade in January. Of course if you are a VIP then I could be wrong. Verizon is just too complicated sometimes. Did the rep tell you the actuall date that you can upgrade?

Yea i probably wouldnt want to mess with opening a new line with EFT's and what not. And yes we both got ours this May. And i went in and asked when my exact date for an upgrade would be. And at first he told me Jan 2010. And then he said well wait, dont quote me on this but since you are the primary line you might be eligible for an upgrade this May,(one year after i originally got my phone). He said i would get the new two year price, but with an added 20 dollars on top of it.
I was just curious if this could work, its not a huge deal either way. thanks for the responses.
