I just have to ask this question to any of the VZW moderators. Will Verizon offer the original Storm owners any type of discounted price to upgrade to the new Storm? A lot of us have gone through hell and high water with our originals and have stuck through it because they are good phones, at least mine has been with some minor issues. The new Storm will be out approximately one year after the release of the first one. Many upgrades and a better more stable system. Don't let this turn out to be the same customer dissatisfaction issue AT&T had when the new I-phone was released. Customer satisfaction is what VZW has been about keep it that way besides the great network.

What do you think the answer to this question is? If you have had a lot of problems they can probably get you in a new phone at the one year price if you are VIP.

What is a VIP in relation to VZW, as I have been a continued paying subcriber since 2002.

There are a few criteria that must be met. Basically if you have a BASE plan of 79.99 or higher and have paid your bill on time for a full year.

I was recently told by customer service on the 800# and by reps in the store that the VIP program had been discontinued earlier this year. I also was told that the best time to get a deal is toward the end of the month in the store, especially if they are short of meeting sales quotas.

NO its not discontinued what I believe they meant was that people are chosen for it once a year and that is around Feb. You just cant switch to a 1400 min plan and be VIP. You have to have the plan and good standing for a calender year starting in Feb and ending in Feb.

LOL Why would verizon want to buy back a Storm 1? They are trying to unload them for 49.99 right now. Its stinks being an early adopter on a phone. How would you like to be a tester and have to deal with all the early problems. I dont see how the Storm would even been able to dial a number at first.

I have never known of Verizon buying a phone back..ever. If you have seen this please share.
I agree that phone should be free. By the way I have had one(Storm) and I am not a "Fan" of the Tour actually the Curve is probably the best overall BB. I will buy a 8530 as soon as VZ releases that Curve for my wife and I will probably upgrade to the Essex early next year and leave the Tour behind unless the Blawkhawk turns out to be what its suppose to be.

My wife took her LG enV in as the touch screen was locking up and when it was not locked up it just sucked. She asked for a replacement and was given a enV2. The rep told ehr that Verizon knows that it was a piece of junk phone and anyone who came in with a complaint or issue got the new model, no questions asked. Why wont they do that for the Storm?

Your post presupposes that Verizon Corporate structure values already existing customers, considers fairness in its decisions (as opposed to just profit), and rewards persons who takes chances on new phones. None of of those things exist.

There is no buy back program on VZW, they have is something called Hopeline or something like that where you DONATE your old or unused phone for victims of disasters, etc. If ya think VZW will offer some sort of discount to old Storm owners you are dreaming, best bet is sell it online or something where you can get more money for it.

Ok so let's stop beating around the bush and get it out there...........................Hopefully an ADMIN or a REP from Verizon can help us with this one question...
WILL STORM USERS GET A FREE UPGRADE TOWARDS STORM2 OR SOME SORT OF DISCOUNT?
I have been hearing a lot of people saying that they go into verizon stores to ask if verizon will do such a thing.......
and the employees at the verizon stores respond with yes they will be mailing out forms/coupons/rebates to your home. Is this true? Please can someone clarify.

i honestly do not see verizon giving a new storm2 out to storm1 owners for free. that would never happen when most people got the phone for free...and do you think they would give you another free phone? there will be an os update to your storm1 soon that will make your storm1 run like a new phone...download a 5.0 os and you will see the difference or wait for the official os update to come out which will be real soon. the only discount i see to purchase a new storm2 is your contract is up with verizon and your up for an upgrade. rim and verizon cant be giving out free phones like apple. if you are the 1 group of storm1 owners sorry...get in good with a verizon rep is all i can tell you if you paid the original price. i didnt get the free or discounted storm1 deal...and i'm over it. and i actually like my storm 1 now that i've did upgrades to it. and i'm not sure i even want a storm2 right now even though i'm up for an upgrade in dec.

Wow! Everyone has made this into something it wasn't. My thread didn't start with give me a free phone or I want to trade my phone in. It was very simple; will Verizon offer sometype of discount to Storm 1 owners. You know like $50, 100 or 150 off of the normal price. Although as usual VS. reps are staying away from this question because they have not received any guidance from above. Thugster is the only one that really gets what I was asking. I am happy with my Storm 1, although the memory leaks and small application memory that is significantly improved on the Storm 2 would be nice to have. The new 5.0 OS will not fix this or increase memory size. Everyone have a nice day and enjoy.

I think that the nail has been hit right on the head in terms of a moderator not answering this question. If they say yes, it will start a pandemic of vzw customers storming the stores looking for rebates and/or discounts. Hehe get it "storming" lol! Anyway, i bet that just like ATT did with the whole iphone 3g & 3gs thing...depending on how long you have had your storm will probably dictate how much of a discount you will receive. I know the original post was not looking for a free phone...so all of you that expect a free phone that dont apply for the new every two....keep dreaming.
