can't post new thread in mobile section

...and unfortunately that's the only reason I signed up for this. 

I am trying to post a question about mobile service in the general mobile section, but 'new message' button is greyed out.  This is the only section that seems to be the case.   Why?

That is because the Verizon Wireless (for example cell phones), has split from this site.

These forums are now dedicated to Residential products and services offered by Verizon.
