Can I Really Use Talk, Text, And Data While In Mexico?

My plan states I am still able to use domestic text, talk, and data while traveling to and arriving in Mexico. What are the stipulations? I just want to make sure I can still text and call people at home with no unsuspected charges.

No real tricks as long as on Verizon plan 12 GB or higher.  Calling or texting back to US or in Mexico will just use your current plan
