Generally speaking you need to make sure roaming is turned on for both voice and for data and have the international services feature enabled along with an international plan (or TravelPass) active on the line.
If you have roaming enabled on your device you need to call in to make sure the international services are enabled and plan is active.
These are the minimum requirements and any number of variables also can impact service on another carrier (and country's) towers/network so you really need to call in:
908-559-4899 (if outside of the United States to reach global support)
Good Luck

PAURIC09, having a phone that works when you’re traveling abroad is important. Let’s make sure that we’re able to get this working for you. Can you tell us the make/model of your device? What happens when you try to call, text, or use data while you’re in Australia? Is there anyone else traveling with you that also has a Verizon phone? If so, are they experiencing the same issues?

PAURIC09, The last thing we want is for you to cancel service when you return to the states, and we do not want to add to your frustration. We are eager to get to the bottom of this.
We understand you are not able to call since the device is not working, but is there an alternate landline phone where you can call us from Australia? If so, that toll free number to Global Support is 0011 800-50050099
