Travel Plan

We just purchased a Travel Plan and are curious about a few things.  Are we charged for calls or texts that we might receive from family members?  Also should we keep our phone turned off except when we wish to make a call or send a text?  Will we be charged for taking pictures?

If your taking your smartphone, I recommend keeping airplane mode turned on unless you want or need to use cell service. You can still use Wi-Fi with airplane mode on to use internet, and depending on your phone you can call and text on Wi-Fi too. There is also plenty of 3rd party apps (like Facebook Messenger, Google Hangouts, WhatsApp, etc.) that you can use for Wi-Fi calling and texting for free if your phone doesn't come with it already.

When I traveled, I only turned off airplane mode if a Wi-Fi connection wasn't available and needed to use cell service. Then whenever I found Wi-Fi signal again, or just didn't need cell service, I would just turn airplane mode back on. This prevents getting any unwanted charges because someone called, messaged, or emailed you.
