I wanted to know will the droid x be up graded to 4g or will I have to wait for my 2 year is up, or will i have to by a new phone? do any one know

Yes.

 

You will have to get a phone that is capable of running on the so-called 4G network, depending upon whom you ask.

 

The Droid's 3G radio is not upgradable to run on the so-called 4G network, depending upon who you ask.

 

There is a lot of chatter on the Geekboy sites claiming to know about a super-secret upgrade plan that , upon the activation of the so-called 4G network, depending upon whom you ask, the Droid X's radio will magically operate on the, well, you know, THAT new network.

 

I contend that there is one way to find out.

Unfortunately, LTE requires a sim card and, unless I'm wrong, no current Verizon android phones have one.

I believe the radio receiver chip in the Droid X will be more the issue because the radio in the Droid X can not receive the LTE (4G) signal, if all the device required is a sim that could be worked around with a rom update that wrote the codes required to read and interprete  the signal but it doesn't work like that when working with GSM compared to CDMA transmissions.. Its kind of like using a wifi transmission to transmit a bluetooth signal.  Not plausible...
