Where is the area to look up a phone number?

Why must Verizon change the way their web page looks and when you do make a change why is it so hard to find things like looking up a phone number? Since doesn't want to send out phone books to our homes any longer so it should be very clear where to find this feature and yet it is not. Doing a search on reverse look up or finding a phone number yields so many hits that it would take me hours to read through everything to see if perhaps it contained the info I was looking for.

Hello,
We do have ways to contact us via "Ask Verizon". See the link below that can provide assistance.

Very sorry Shamika but that is complete nonsense. The link you provided gives a long list of lookup info on DNS lookup, URL lookup and nothing for telephone number lookup other than a link to a page that says "Under Development" which is not really helpful.
Also I find most pages have a notice scolding me for using an unsupported browser. i have found that none of the browsers you list as acceptable to you will run on a G5 Mac running OS X 10.41.
I have enjoyed having paper free billing and paying on line but am planning to call Verizon tomorrow to changeback to paper billing as your website is clearly becoming unreliable to Mac users.
Shamika, Could you please talk to someone there and try to find an answer on lookup? The link was no help.
Thank you
David

Sorry, Shamika. I too am disappointed by the web page changes. I can't find reverse phone lookup or where to look up someone's phone number. This site is an annoying mess. Where do I go on the site to look up someone's home number???

If I know the persons name and address I can usually type that into google and their number will come up provided they don't have an unlisted numbers or address in the their local phone book. www.whitepages.com is good or I can usually google and fine the local phonebook for their area online to search. As for reverse phone looks up, google again, type in the 10 digit number with hyphons and unless they are unlisted should show the address. Unless things have changed at google this stuff always worked for me. Mary

I too have found that the old link (http://www22.verizon.com/Residential/LookupTools/) to find a phone number or look up a caller's namefrom their number has disappeared. This was an extremely useful tool, surely Verizon knows that the old paper books are a dying breed? Please post the new link if you find it.
Thanks

Works here. I do find that Verizon does tend to change their web site from time to time, thus the URLs change also. Gets annoying at times.

Doesn't work for me. I typed in my Mom's number because she is listed in the local phone book and I can find her on Google but when I type her number on that page it gives me an error and says sorry we are not able to process your request and gives me choices return to previous page go to home page etc and that's it, doesn't find the name. There are a ton of other sites that do the same thig. Mary

I have never had to pay to fine someone's phone number or address online if they were listed in their local phone book. If they are asking you to pay it could be that they have an unlisted number so no they won't come up on any site for free in that case. Mary

Ok perhaps you are correct. But Verizon does not own whitepages.com that I know of. But most everything I look up shows they want money. Most cell phones.
Also Verizon is looking into the issue of the broken web tools.

Oh cell phone numbers won't show at all, you would have to pay to get those but home phone numbers as long as they are in their local phone book you can just google the number or the name and address and it will come up.
Now in my case we used to be in the local phone book 20 some years but we dropped the landline and had that number ported to my cell. Then a few months after that I noticed we could not be found online anymore and we are not in the local phone book. I supposed I could do something about that by calling the phone book and adding us but I left it be. Mary

I did point out the issue regarding the tools, and it is being investigated.by Verizon employees. But an ETA for getting it fixed or exactly how it is broke is up in the air. But yes Verizon should have that feature working somewhere.
Best Regards

The website is there, but no longer performs lookups. http://www22.verizon.com/Residential/Support/Look+Up+Tools/
This is a valuable resource for Verizon's customers and it should be restored. The web search alternatives are pricey data aggregators who want to sell me public records searches and personal information rather than just providing a neighbor's phone number.

I have never paid by googling to look up a listed number. Is this tool special in that it will give you unlisted numbers? Wouldn't see the point in that since people pay to have their number unlisted and I for one would be mad. Mary

Did you know: I can pay $150 a day to get a dump of all the Wireless traffic from a cell phone tower of my choice for a provider without any question? What's the point of encryption if I could simply pay to get data?
But that is true. For unlisted numbers you probably do have to pay if there are paid sites out there that index unlisted numbers. Even then, I've had plenty of luck using http://wp.superpages.com/ . Verizon's tool is at: http://www22.verizon.com/Support/Residential/phone/homephone/general+support/support+tools/general/1...
