Why can't I receive notification of incoming calls via email AND block certain incoming calls at the same time?
If one is on, and I try to activate the other, I get an alert like:
You have requested to turn the Call Notification Always feature On, but currently the Incoming Call Block - Reject Calls from Certain Numbers feature is turned On. You may not have these two services On at the same time. Do you want to: Turn Call Notification Always On and turn Incoming Call Block - Reject Calls from Certain Numbers Off?

You must not have understood my question. We have FIOS Digital Voice. Using the web management tool, there are many options including notification via email when we receive a phone call - I have it send an email to my Blackberry that give the phone number of the calling party. I also have it send voice mails to my Blackberry as a file, and therefore receive that notification as well moments after the VM has been left.
In addition to that, as we receive annoying telemarketer calls just like everyone else (despite the fact that we are on the no-call list), I noticed that the FIOS DV has the option to enter phone number which can be blocked.
However, the two features I described above are for some reason mutually exclusive. Therefore I cannot receive notifications of incoming calls/VM ~and~ block annoying calls at the same time. Why is that????

with digital voice you can still get voice mail notifications via email if you use call block - that setting is under "voice Main notifications" or voice mail settings. you just can't have call block and call notifications together - which I too can't figure out why - at any rate doesn't bother me because i do not need a notification when a telemarketer is calling me - and if it is an important call they will leave a message and I will get notification of the message. so I have learned to work around it

If you are on the do not call list and are getting those calls you need to report every one of them as they are in violation of the rules. Make it clear to them and tell them you are on the list and they need to remove your name. I have not gotten one call like that since they implimented the do not call list. Note that charity stuff asking for donations are exempt for the do not call list. Mary

I totally agree with amarryat - I need to have call block and call notifications on at the same time. We get TONS of unwanted calls - political, telemarketers, etc... Do Not Call helps, but not enough. I want to get notifications of home calls while I'm out but leave the block in place.
Verizon - please enable both simultaneously! I am a former user of Iobi, and it had this functionality. I really miss it now.

I was under the impression all these years that i had Fios Digital Voice. Turns out i was wrong. i have copper. that is why none of the features i thought i had work correctly. after spending about 100 hours on the phone with every dept under the sun with verizon. we finally figured it out today. why in the hell would i have copper phone service when i pay $190 a month for the latest and greatest every where else ? don't assume you have anything with fios. better ask them to verify what you actually have first. save yourself lots of time and effort.
