Why are the communities bordering on Philadelphia still called "Philadelphia Suburban Zone (number)" on phone-service bills?
Is this an imposition by the state utility commission, or done by agreement of local providers?

Hi Similia40..thanks for reaching out to us--Philadelphia Suburban Zone and other similiar grouping are done so that people living on the outskirts of cities like Philadelphia can make calls between each town without incurring toll charges. These groupings are determined by city and local governments, not by carriers like Verizon. If you need us we'll be here! Take care!
