Does call forwarding pass caller ID data without caller ID on line?

Suppose I have caller ID and call forwarding on number A. I have setup call forwarding to send all calls to number A to number B, which is at another provider which includes caller ID.

Now suppose I drop caller ID from number A. Will calls to number B that were forwarded from number A still receive caller ID data? In other words, is the caller ID still being passed through at the "system" level even though I no longer have caller ID on my local line?

It never used to.  If someone has CallerID, the switch has to be told to pass that info onto the endpoint.  If callerID is turned off line A, I serously doubt the switch will pass it anyway.  But, it is an interesting concept.  Thinking through, it should because it is a trunking (switch to switch) issue so it might.

All calls from a reputable telephone company WILL send the originating Calling Number & Name to the terminating Called phone ALL of the time. I personally typically call forward my cell phone to my home (wireline) to prevent missed calls from going to a separate (cell phone )voice mail. Calls to my cell phone arrive on my home phone WITH the Caller ID NUMBER & NAME displayed.

This Calling Number ID info is intended to be sent regardless if the Calling and Called phones are in the same central office or thousands of miles sway.

Many factors figure into whether (or not) the Calling Number & Name actually gets displayed --one of those factors IS NOT influenced in any way if one (or more) of the phones is call forwarded one or more times.

Many of the alternative phone companies (VoIP, which includes cable companies) intentionally prevent the Calling Number & Name from being sent. Many small business private phone systems do not have this capability (turned on). Many people still use 10xxx 'dial-around' psuedo long distance companies; most of these companies do not provide this capability.
