How to turn off Voicemail Box

My wife does not want to use the Verizon telephone answering and messaging feature. How the heck do you turn this feature off? I have looked through much of the website and almost every feature is explained except OFF. Could anyone help with this?

You can't turn it off but you can change the number of rings before it answers. Try 10 rings & most people will hang up b4 it answers.
