Local Move - Can't Move Phone Number?

We moved less than 2 miles, and are told that our home number cannot be moved to the new adress.  Can't imagine a "geographic area" definition that would make this not eligible for Local Number Portability....any other ideas?

ask the reps where the central office is located for both of the numbers. (the one u have now and the one they're trying to give you)

If its less than 2mi, you should be in the same CO (central office) and it should move just fine.

If it IS switching CO's then thats why you cant keep ur old #.
