So I am trying to stream games and I cannot stream due to huge amounts of packets being dropped. I have the upload set to 1.7 in the software and it can't even handle that without dropping a ton of packets. I pay for the 50/25 plan yet I don't get anywhere near that when I do extended speedtests. Sure I can do speedtest.net or speedtest.verizon but those are short 10 second tests which aren't very accurate. If I do an extended test I get 8 mb/s down and maybe 2 mb/s upload MAX. I am only paying for this internet to stream games yet I can't because I am not getting those advertised speeds. I don't have any viruses and I even spoke with customer support and they're sending me a new router. I highly doubt that will solve anything. I've used a tool to check for traffic shaping which takes about 2-3 mins to check upload and it cannot even finish that because of a high amount of packet loss. What is the deal?
Depending on what revision of router you have, it could be causing issues. Especially with games, if it is not a GEN 2 router. The older revision A-D had really small NAT tables and cause issue when the router had to make multiple connections for games. Now with a speed test single connection, you should be getting advertised speeds, unless you do have a serious router issue.
Also it helps to know your approximate location. FL, CA, MD, NY, Etc.......
