I am currently on the 20/5 plan, but consistently only get around 7/4. Should I downgrade to save money? Does Verizon have any plans lower than 15/5 since I only get about half that on the download?

yeah im having the same exact problem but im getting lower speeds, like 5/1 and i made my own thread and private messages sum ppl at tech support and still no one can fix my problem. i got a replacement router from verizon to replace the router that i had which was a westell 9100EM with a new westell 9100EM router and i still have the same problem. no one seem to help me with my problem. i would rather go back to time warner b/c i never had a problem with them except for a few days but i usually get what i paid for. i switch to verizon to get higher speed b/c time warner highest speed they allowed for me was 10/1 which i got everyday and now im with verizon and i cant even get that speed.
but actually the main thing is my ping, which is the amount of time to send messages to a site and back, a round trip, and those time are suppose to be low. if i reset my router i would range from 10-26ms (millisecond) but the majority of the time i get like 500ms and the highest i got were in the 900ms which is really slow. I need this for gaming and my game lags so much b/c of the ping.
i like the deal i have with verizon b/c i save with tv and internet together but i dont like what im getting from internet.
I have 3 laptops, 2 wireless with vista and mac OS and the other is wireless or wired, which i use and with windows vista OS.
Also i have a pc which is wireless and using the window 7 beta but this is connected wireless.
the only thing that is hardwired is my laptop, when i need to check the speed and ping, and my xbox 360.
if anyone can help...please let me kno.

all speed testing needs to be done wired. Nothing is promised with wireless. Once hardwired, check both
and check the location nearest to you. This will give you a baseline on the speeds so we know where to start.
for the ping problems. when you have high pings like that, before you try resetting anything, run a trace route. to do this from windows..
Open a command prompt and type... tracert www.google.com (replace google, with what ever web site you have issues with or the IP address of your gaming server)
This would allow us and Verizon to see where the problem is. Whether or not it is local in the house, the verizon network, or internet related.

the laptop i use is hardwire...
so I carried out the test from speakeasy.net/speedtest reads = 3588kbps and 315kbps
from speedtest.net reads = 1.79megabits/s and .52megabits/s and ping is 400ms
and both went to LA servers b/c i live in southern california near LA, like 15 mins away.
as for the command prompt, i did tracert www.yahoo.com

Hi dada
Sometimes a word not allowed in the filter, is made by the last letters of one word and the first letters of another word. If you would like to PM me with what was originally in there, perhaps I can explain it better.
Anytime *bleep* appears, it is a word filter program that has replaced something on the prohibited list. If a moderator had removed it, you would see the word "edit" or a similar message.
Your *bleep* has now been removed.

I am also having this problem, I am currently a 15/5 customer, and my speed test results are around 4.7/1.5. From what I have been reading, it seems like the acceptable standard is around 80% the advertised speed, and I am only running @ 30% of the advertised speeds.
I have tried directly connecting my internet line from the router into my PC, and the results are the same as if I was using the router. Can anyone provide me with some tips/information on how to get my internet running like it should be?

I have not yet, but this will be the first thing i try when I am home (since i'm at work now).
Also I saw this thread:
http://forums.verizon.com/vrzn/board/message?board.id=FiOS_Internet&thread.id=6498
And this worries me. This user says his card (RealTek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC) is the reason he is running slow, and I am almost positive I am using this on at least 2 PCs on my network.
