I havea D-link gigbit router I've been using happliy for some time. It's also configured properly for VPN connections, which was tricky. Why must I change to the slower speed router that Verizon sent me?
Or can I safely ignore the broadcast voicemail I got that says that my service will be interrupted if I don't change routers?
To find out the answer to your question, it would help to know the answers to these two questions.
#1 Do you also have FIOS TV ?
#2 If not, are you considering getting FIOS TV ?
Thanks for writing. No I don't have fios TV and I don't intend to subscribe.
So the answer is, I guess, that if I don't intend to get FIOS TV, I can use the router I have?
Lately Verizon has been sending folks new routers to handle their upgrades for IPv6 that are coming hopefully soon, and also to folks who they have identified or believe may have the original D-Link DI-524 routers that Verizon used before they started to use ActionTec and also Westell MoCa routers. You can continue using your current router without a problem. Just keep the Verizon router around should you ever need support from them.
