I recently had a new install of the phone system from Verizon. One thing that was overlooked was the filter set-up for the internet DSL on the phone lines. If you have a jack and you have a splitter for other phones or in my case a phone and a box phone line set up with my TV with Directv you must have a separate filter after the splitter is in the jack for each line out. NOT ONE FILTER IN THE JACK BEFORE THE SPLITTER. It causes conflagration ( I hope I spelled it right). Your caller ID will not work and you can not order movies on your dvr top box. Word up that is a problem solved not by Verizon but by Directv. The service tech from Verizon did not have a clue about this problem. That is it.
