I have a new router and now I can't connect my sons xbox to the network. It says I can't obtain an IP address from my router or modem but my PC does.

The Xbox was connected via an ethernet cable and apparently whatever took out the modem/router also damaged the cable.
Changed the cable and all is well now. Thanks for the ideas!
