his has been driving me crazy. For the past week my DSL Modem, a Westell 6100G, has been dropping its connection almost randomly. Sometimes the Internet light goes out, sometimes it turns solid RED, and other times the Internet and Data lights keep blinking but I see mo Internet traffic coming through. I can usually still get into Westell's configuration site at 192.168.1.1 and am
posting some info I found here:
------
Transceiver Statistics
Transceiver Revision 3.3.6.10.0.1
Vendor ID Code 4D54
Line Mode ADSL_G.dmt
Data Path INTERLEAVED
Transceiver Information Down Stream Path Up Stream Path
DSL Speed (Kbits/Sec) 864 448
Margin (dB) 6.6 11.0
Line Attenuation (dB) 66.8 31.5
Transmit Power (dBm) 16.5 11.9
------
Is the margin too low at 6.6 db and is the line attenuation too high at 66.8?
Also, here is the event log just after the Internet light turned RED:

Any thoughts? Bad line or possibly a bad modem?
Thanks.
-Charlie
P.S. It just went down again!
I am having the exact same problem for the last 2 weeks and have spent numerous times on the phone to the techs, it works for a little bit then stops. I have a Westall 6100... I think they're too old and need to be upgraded! One minute I have internet and the next I don't. Now it won't let me hitch up my wireless router either....go figure! Good Luck to you!
Oh, on a different topic, what type of Wireless Router are you using with the 6100? I have a Dlink DI-624 here that I used with the original Westell 2200 modem, but I never could get it to talk to the new one.

I believe the info at
Will help you.

If you have any questions, please ask.
I had the same problem yesterday.I called Verizon and the tech helped me reset the modem and she also helped me bridge my Linksys router with the modem. I had a very good tech. experience. Keep trying.
I doubt the problem is from the modem. Your line statistics are marginal but if the line has always operated like that, it should be OK. From time to time it is known for Verizon's RADIUS servers to have some problems. If it isn't a problem with that, it is usually a case of congestion somewhere on the network that has gotten severe in nature.
See if you can push for Tech Support to check things on their end of the system. PPPoE drops are generally not the fault of the modem.
