Is there any way I can get a wireless N router?

Okay so I have the old 25/25 connection and with the current modem/router from verizon I got bout 12 down and like 5 up.

I switched to a 3rd party router a long time ago but I wish to use a verizon modem/router that has a wireless N router

since the verizon router can block internet access because I wish to leave my connection open from now on its not open

yet but I wish to do it but I can't do with this router because I don't know how to block people that's why I have it locked still

and my current NETGEAR WNR2000(I get 25/25 wireless or closer like 23/25). I know its the wireless B+G that was

making my connection slow because I had switched between like 5 verizon routers from them and none difference

because they all were B+G but when I purchased my NETGEAR WNR2000 with B+G+N I got full speed because of the N

technology. So is there any way of asking them if I can get a wireless N router mostly for free?

I suppose it depends upon your definition of free. If you upgrade to an internet speed above 100mbps, Verizon will indeed provide with you a new router (because the older routers can only handle 100mbps ethernet). However while the router is free, the upgraded FiOS service certainly isn't, and the additional cost per month is probably more than Verizon Charges to simply sell you new router.

If your existing router fails, Verizon will replace it, you are likely to get a replacement that supports 802.11N, but there is absolutely no guarantee of that however.

However the lowest cost option is usually to disable wireless on your exisiting router, and connect an 802.11N Wireless Access Point to provide you 802.11N capability as you have done.

Oh wow I never knew they sell routers. If something goes wrong with the 

FiOS GigE Wireless "N" Router 

can they replace it with the same 

FiOS GigE Wireless "N" Router?

Or will I get my old B+G if the wireless router fails?

Will I have to pay extra monthly if I upgrade to the gigE wireless n?

Oh yeah will I have to return my wireless B+G router when I buy GigE wireless router?

I just purchased the N router and I'm not really happy with it.

The range is pathetic and there is no dual band. Just a heads up.  I'm wishing I would have purchased an access point and just bridged them together for the wireless.

There are definetely mixed reviews on it 

Some people say it's the answer to all their prayers

Some people said it was a negligable difference

Some people said it got worse with the new one.

So it really depends on your environmental Factors.

That router is only 2.4ghz, so it doesn't take advantage of the 5ghz, so it's subject to the same interference from competing devices, as all the other Verizon Routers, such as cordless phones, home networks, Bluetooth devices, and baby monitors

In other words, your mileage may vary.

If I was going to spend upwards of 80+ I would probably invest a little more and make sure I got a dual band 5ghz Wireless N router, and then piggy back it to the Verizon equipment.

I assume you are referring to the Actiontec Rev I router.

I am not really concerned about range with the Rev. I router, but it seems to work fine for me at around 70 feet, at the other end of my house.

Yes it is not dual band, but then again, nothing I have seen would make anybody believe that it was dual band. And dual band routers are typically more expensive, and I am sure you know that Verizon is never going to be the cheapest option for purchasing any hardware.

To the Rev. I router performance: I have 25/25 service and I typically get 30/24 performance wireless. For example, I just did the following test wireless to speedtest.net:

Close enough for me.

I get basically the same speeds when I use the laptop wired.

I don't know about how your router was configured when you received it, but mine was configured for WPA2 but for TKIP/AES encryption, which supports B/G/N speeds, and my N-capable laptop would only connect at G speeds, no matter what I did, and I was unhappy with wireless performance. Eventually I found a topic that talked about changing the encryption to AES only and bingo, my wireless speeds increased dramatically. So you might check to see if you are using AES only and if not changing to that so that you have the "N performance" option.

And one other thing: have you checked for wireless interference? I use inSSIDer (free) to see what other networks are operating around me, and I have found that using Channel 1 works best for me. But if you haven't checked I encourage you to do so, it can make a big difference if you happen to be using a congested channel.

Anyways back to my question If I get the gigE wireless N router is it covered by verizon like it is right now meaning I can get replacement for free? Do I have to send back the current verizon router I am using when I get the new one?

As should have been obvious from my post, I was not responding to you.

I don't know the answer to your questions, although I can say I got my Rev. I as a free replacement for my Rev. F which I got as a free replacement for my Rev. D when Verizon was trying to identify and fix an internet connection failure, and I still have both the Rev. F and Rev. D routers, Verizon specifically said I did not need to return them. 

And yes, changing to AES from TKIP/AES can make a very big difference, it did for me, I know it for a fact because I did performance measurements before and after. I am very happy with my Rev. I router, big wireless performance boost, acceptable signal strength, and reliable so far.

Do I have to send back the current verizon router I am using when I get the new one? No, This comes as a part of your service, so you will either turn it into a moca bridge and use it that way, or pack it away and do not throw it away, so that you can return it later.
