Massive Connection Issues

I lose my connection from once a week to several times a day. Tech support states that when my IP resets connection is lost. I have been given a new router and a new box inside my home. The mocha light goes red. I reset the system by unplugging unit and disconnecting the battery. I no longer call tech support. I do not have time for their nonsense. I am Comcast bound very shortly. FIOS was magnificent when it started. Please advise.
