My new Verizon Wireless router doesn't work with Internet

I received my new upgraded Verizon home router the other day but it doesn't work with the Internet. I followed the instructions (which basically say make the same connections as with thold router) but it doesn't work with Internet.  I let it run for 6 minutes as the instructions say too. Any suggestions?

Before you disconnect your old router, log in to it.

Do a release on wan IP address.

Otherwise it can several hours before old router lease is released.
