Need serious help with this DSL speed.

Ping: 45 ms

0.80 Mbps/download

0.37 Mbps/upload

I mean this is slower than slow.  And this is a good night. I know it's DSL...but come on. Any help, suggestions.  And Fios is not available in my area, which honestly in this day and age seems really, well lame.  I'm pretty close to getting rid of Verizon at this point.  Someone please help.  There is nothing connected to the router.  It's used for the laptop and for my phone.  It won't work with any other wireless devices (like the bluray player or TV).  Again I know it's DSL and slow, but these speeds are lame.  It's a Actiontec router. Model GT784WNV if that helps.  Thanks for any help.

Step one: Visit and post up the Traceroute the page shows, if you wish. Be aware that your non-bogan public IP Address will show up.  It might shown up as the final hop (bottom-most line of the trace)  might contain a hop with your IP address in it. Either remove that line or show only the first two octets. What I'm looking for is a line that mentions "ERX" in it's name towards the end. If for some reason the trace does not complete (two lines full of Stars), keep the trace route intact.

For example this what I saw when I was using Verizon

traceroute to 71.242.*.* (71.242.*.*), 30 hops max, 60 byte packets
    1 ( 13 ms 13 ms 13 ms
    2 ( 39 ms 7 ms 7 ms
    3 TenGigE0-2-0-0.GW1.IAD8.ALTER.NET ( 4 ms 4 ms GigabitEthernet2-0-0.GW8.IAD8.ALTER.NET ( 4 ms
    4 ( 6 ms 6 ms 6 ms
    5 ( 6 ms 6 ms 6 ms
    6 static-71-242-*-* (71.242.*.*) 32 ms 32 ms 33 ms

Step two: Can you provide the Transceiver Statistics from your modem?

If you do not have a RJ-45 WAN port router to that modem, then access the web interface at Just log in with one of the following usernames and passwords:

Once in, go to the Status pages of the modem using the top navigation, and then select DSL Status or WAN Status. You should see information such as your line speed, attenuation, SN Margin, line mode and transmit power. You can screenshot or copy/paste this info into a post.

What package do you pay for as well, so we can get an understanding of what we're to expect? There's two packages: HSI and HSI Enhanced. HSI Enhanced in short, is anything from 1.1Mbps/384kbps to 15Mbps/1Mbps.
