Set hostname to dissolve to my domain

Hi,

I have a domain that I would like to be my host name. I think I need to use rDNS or something to do it. I have full domain and hosting control for the domain (we'll say example.com) and I'd like to to be so when I connect to IRC networks it appears my hostname is @example.com

Help appreciated.
