I have been struggling with slow DSL speeds for a couple of years. Last years I called Verizon and the solution was to sell me a higher package which promised higher speeds. I am still stuck at .3 mbps download average (sometimes slightly higher). I've contacted support several times over the last several months and they've promised to call me back within an hour promising that the issue is marked as a high priority and I never get a call back. So I would like to know if anyone else has had problems like this and found a fix? My next step will be to cancel service and go with the new cable internet in our community that Verizon is quickly losing most of my town's customers to.
I have checked all phones have filters, replaced the modem, replaced filters and even run all new phone lines. Nothing has sped it up. I honestly don't think the issue is on my end but I cannot get Verizon to even give me the time of day.
Step one: Visit http://www.giganews.com/line_info.html and post up the Traceroute the page shows, if you wish. Be aware that your non-bogan public IP Address will show up. It might shown up as the final hop (bottom-most line of the trace) might contain a hop with your IP address in it. Either remove that line or show only the first two octets. What I'm looking for is a line that mentions "ERX" in it's name towards the end. If for some reason the trace does not complete (two lines full of Stars), keep the trace route intact.
