After downloading software to remove the Trojan virus, i am no longer able to connect to internet. After talking to verizon rep i was told that my network card is not working. Does anyone know how to fix this problem and/or can tell me what this means? The ip address I get is 10.0.0.2
Looks like you are not getting a response to the dhcp request from your machine which probably does indicate a network card issue.
How are you trying to connect? Wireless or wired?
Would suggest connecting an ethernet cable between your pc network port and your router. If you still can't get an IP address then find your system installion media and reload the nic (network) drivers.
Some malware affects the proxy settings on the browser and it's effects stick around after disinfection. Check the following:
Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections -> LAN Settings
If any of the boxes are checked (Automatically detect, Use automatic configuration, or Use a Proxy Server), uncheck them and turn them off. Hit OK until the settings boxes go away and try accessing a website again.
