open internet explorer and go into tools, then internet options, then clcik on the advanced tab and reset the restore all advanced\default settings.    Then open your firefox and do the same in there, then manually go to the web page that you want to use as your home page and set that as your home page.  It should work just fine.    If not, call tech support at 1-888-553-1555 and ask to be connected to the support for the Internet Security Suite

Dont know if you want to try this but it is something I would try.  Go in and do a system restore to a point prior to installing bearshare. may or may not work but it may be worth a try

start/programs/accessories/systemtools/system restore (win xp)

another possibility, try removing the VISS and installing the free version of AVG and do a scan with it. see if another AV program might spot it. Probably not as most AV programs use the same definitions but it may be worth a try.

I am with CharlesH regarding priracy. You stand a good chance of being prosecuted and paying mega bucks. It's not worth it. Not to mention the problems you have found for yourself. Try SpyBot Search and Destroy from Safer-Networking. If your machine is really hosed, you may need to run it from safe mode.
