Both my and my wife's MacBook Pro's began being redirected to Verizon search engine about 40% of the time when browsing using Safari, beginning about mid January, 2010. The redirect address is:http://wwwwz.websearch.verizon.net/search?qo=www.msnbc.msn.com&rn=yXOQUGqXbifYQmT, and it is a royal pain and a huge time waster. If you look around on the displayed page and click "about this page" there is a supposed way to opt out of this "service" by clicking on either FIOS or DSL. When you click your service type nothing happens, no way to opt out. I have verified MSNBC as default search address many times and it is always there. This is the rudest, most intrusive thing I have ever seen and I hate the intrusion. I talked to tech support and they were totally worthless as far as help is concerned. My laptop was purchased late September, 2009 and my wife's December 2009. I use mine daily at home and when on projects and NEVER had an issue before Jan, 2010.
Anybody out there know how to dump this "service" and get my life back?
