Currently have 50/20 through a triple play deal and wanted to at least check the upgrade options for the new speed tiers. However, nothing above 50/25 is offered when I go through the process on line.
Talked with two reps, and neither had a satisfying answer about why no faster speeds were available. I have a compatible ONT and compatible Actiontech router, so what gives? Anybody know?

What's the model of your current ONT?

It's a Motorolla 1000JI. Already using Cat 6 cable, not coax. The Actiontech router is Rev. I.

Generally the unwillingness to sell higher speeds indicates a capacity issue somewhere. For example it could be your Fiber Service is BPON instead of GPON, or there may be capacity issues upstream from the Central Office. Believe me, if Verizon thought they could provide the higher speeds, they would be offering it.

Well that's terribly disappointing.
Rep I just spoke with confirmed the highest available speeds for me are 50/25. He couldn't give me a reason why, nor would he confirm or deny that the speeds will evenutally be upgraded. Not to sound like a d-bag, but I live in an affluent suburb that's 12 miles from NYC. How in the hell the higher speeds aren't availble in my neighborhood boggles the mind. They're losing out on a lot of disposable income with that decision.

They don't like you
Actually probably either an error or you are in an area that doesn't currently support the higher speeds.

it's the ont model that you have won't support the speed. If verizon can send someone out, and hopefully gpon is in your neck of the woods, then you might be able to get the higher speeds, but that ONT that you have simply won't do it.

On a different board, somebody said that GPON is not available in my neck of the woods, so I guess I'm hosed and changing the ONT wouldn't make a difference. (The rep on the phone had no idea what BPON and GPON is btw. Just knew I couldn't get higher than 50/25.)
